my 6 anticipated releases of 2022
Hello fellow bookworms,
I hope you are doing great, reading amazing books and adding wonderful books to your TBRs!
On the subject of TBRs (to the ones who aren’t familiar with the bookish lingo, this stands for “to be read” – a list of books that you want to read), I am sure there are at least one or two books in today’s blog post, that you might add to your TBR pile once they come out. There are so many books that are going to be released this year and there are 6 ones that I am particularly excited to read.
Without further ado, here are my most anticipated releases of 2022:
Book Lovers by Emily Henry

If you are familiar with booktok, bookstagram or booktube, that means you are not living under a rock. Which also means that you are familiar with the author: Emily Henry. Their two books “Beach Read” and “People We Meet On Vacation” were a hit on the book community. And now comes another book, “Book Lovers”, which, I am pretty sure will also be loved by the community. I haven’t read their other books but I am looking forward to reading both those and Book Lovers, which is expected to hit the shelves on 3 May 2022.

I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston

Casey McQuiston is one of the many authors that have managed to spread their name around. The first book that comes to mind when McQuiston is mentioned is undoubtedly “Red, White & Royal Blue”. Then comes “One Last Stop”. I am currently reading Red, White & Royal Blue for the Valentines Day Readathon I am hosting as the admin of the Autumn Leaves Bookclub (goodreads/discord: autumn leaves bookclub) and so far we are loving it! I really feel like I’m listening to a friend while reading McQuiston’s books and that’s not something every author can achieve. So I am looking forward to read their other books as soon as I’m done with reading “Red, White & Royal Blue”, and “I kissed Shara Wheeler” sounds like a good book to read after this one! Also can we please appreciate how gorgeous this cover looks??!!

Something Wilder- Christina Lauren
Last year, I’ve read “Love and Other Words” which became one of my all-time favourite books. I loved it, I devoured it, I recommended it to everyone who reads (if I haven’t recommended it to you, then I am now. go read it <3). Another book by my favourite co-authors, “Something Wilder” is expected to be out on May 17, 2022. Christina Lauren, has become my auto-buy author. If I see CLo’s name on a book, I buy it. End of discussion.

Heartstopper Volume 5- Alice Oseman

Last year, I have officially read all of the books in the heartstopper series. I want to thank Alice Oseman for creating my comfort universe and comfort characters. Whenever I am in a bad mood I just reread all the volumes in the series (I have already read vol 1 twice this month and it’s just 8 february. I am an unstable individual). As a result, I was so so SO excited to hear that volume 5, unfortunately the final volume, was going to be released this year. There is no official date for the release, Oseman just announced that it was expected to be out in 2022 so it can be anytime, we don’t have a clue. I am very excited for both the series adaptation and the final volume to be out this year! At the same time I am sad that a whole journey comes to an end. How bittersweet :’)
The announcement:
Café Con Lychee by Emery Lee

An enemies to lovers book set in a cafe?? I’m in. I know nothing about the author but the cover looks STUNNING and it sounds like the book includes rivalries between food owners which is probably one of my favourite tropes. After looking the author up, I found out that they were also the author of a book that I’ve heard a lot about: “Meet Cute Diary”. So this is not a debut novel, unlike I taught it was. The cover is really pretty, have I said that? The cover needs more appreciation.

The American Roommate Experiment- Elena Armas

From the author of the beloved “The Spanish Love Deception”, comes a sequel with Rosie’s point of view. First of all, I loved The Spanish Love Deception, it was the first book I’ve read in 2022, so I had a pretty good start to the year in terms of books. The character that I loved most was Rosalyn Graham. AKA the best friend that didn’t get much attention or even a backstory and was used as a prop that shows up only when the main character needs her rather than an actual character. Now, you might imagine how happy I was when I heard that we were getting Rosie’s story. (#justiceforosie). I feel like the reason I loved Rosie as much as I did was because of the fact that she was the most loveable and real character in the entire book. I couldn’t believe that The Spanish Love Deception was the author’s debut book (it won the best debut book in the goodreads choice 2021 awards), I thought they were very experienced and talented, as a result I am glad that the second book of my auto-buy author is quickly following the first predicted to be released on 9 September 2022 (7 days before my birthday!! dear friends, i’ve found the perfect gift you can get for me.). I am truly grateful to experience the author’s terrifying but amazing journey, I mean we got to see the title, cover and synopsis reveal as the readers, and soon, the book itself will be in our hands!

Also WOW. Nearly all of these books are being released on May. I might disappear for a while this May 👀
That was all! Thank you for making it this far. I really cannot wait to get my hand on these books and read them. What about you? What are your anticipated reads of 2022? Are there any books on this list that you are excited for? If no, what are the books that you cannot wait to read that is not on the list?
